Originally from upstate New York, Sarah has called Durham home for more than 25 years. She began her
career in biotech, but after having all three of her children with the assistance of midwives, she was so
inspired that she returned to school to pursue a career in midwifery.
She earned her degree in biochemistry from Virginia Tech. She then received a nursing degree from Duke
University and an MSN in midwifery from East Carolina University.
“I find building relationships with my patients and providing them with education to help them fully
understand their care and options to be the most rewarding part of my career,” she said.
She’s a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and has served as treasurer of the North
Carolina affiliate.
In her spare time, she loves to run, knit and be outdoors. She confesses that the mountains are her “happy
place.”
