Results of the Patient Survey Conducted August 1-31, 2015

In August 2015 Chapel Hill OB/GYN conducted a patient satisfaction survey. Patients were encouraged to go to our website to participate in a 26 question survey on Survey Monkey.

All patients that participated were included in a raffle for a chance to win a Massage Envy one hour massage. Congratulations to our winners Melanie MacIntyre and Michelle Downey!

After reviewing the results we are pleased by the survey outcome. 99% of our patients were able to make appointments for routine and urgent visits in a timely manner. Most patients (99%) felt like that their provider listened to them and explained things in a manner they could understand. Wait times were a concern at only 88% of patients satisfied. In response to this result we have implemented a patient communication board in the lobby that will list each provider ‘s current wait time. We strongly encourage our patients to notify the front desk staff if they have been waiting longer than 20 minutes after their scheduled appointment time.

In-Office Procedures

Learn about the ease, comfort, safety and convenience of our expanding list of in-office procedures.

Why Choose an Office Based Procedure?

  • Comfortable: Receive care from your entire healthcare team including not only your provider but also all of the staff you have come to know
  • Convenient: No hospital parking, no hospital bureaucracy, no hospital or facility fees
  • Minimally invasive: Quicker recovery and less risk compared to many hospital based procedures
  • Cost Effective: Depending on one’s insurance, office based procedures often cost only your office co-pay instead of counting against a large deductible

Essure As A Method Of Permanent Contraception

Essure is a permanent birth control procedure that works with your body to create a barrier to prevent pregnancy. The Essure procedure offers benefits that no other birth control can. Performed here in our office, there are no hormones and most women return to normal activities within a day.

Compared to a tubal ligation, Essure is less invasive, safer and considerably more cost effective. To learn more, please click here to be directed to the Essure website.

Endometrial Ablation to Treat Heavy Periods

Endometrial ablation is a medical procedure performed in our office that is used to remove (ablate) or destroy the endometrial lining of the uterus. This technique is most often employed for people who suffer from excessive or prolonged bleeding during their menstrual cycle, but cannot or do not wish to undergo a hysterectomy. The procedure is done on an outpatient basis. Endometrial ablation is reserved for women who have completed child bearing.

A couple of technologies are available in our office, NovaSure and Hydrothermal Ablation (HTA).

Diagnostic Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is used to evaluate abnormal bleeding including potential causes such as a polyp or a fibroid. Traditionally, this has been done in the hospital or surgical centers, but now is being offered in our office.

A tiny camera is inserted through the vagina and cervix into the endometrial cavity of the uterus to review the patient’s condition. We can then sample the lining of the uterus (a D&C procedure) and remove a small amount of tissue to examine under a microscope for any abnormalities, particularly to exclude cancerous or precancerous changes. If a polyp is noted, we can also remove it at the same time.

LEEPs For Cervical Abnormalities

Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) uses a wire loop heated by electric current to remove cells and tissue from the middle portion of the cervix as part of the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal or pre-cancerous conditions in a woman’s lower genital tract.

With LEEP, an electric current passes through the fine wire loop to cut away a thin layer of abnormal tissue. This tissue will be sent to the lab for examination. LEEP can also remove abnormal cells to allow healthy tissue to grow. So the goal is two fold: to get rid of the abnormality and to make sure there is nothing more concerning than what has already been detected.

Meet our providers

Our providers are unique and complementary to each other. We have a great mix of personalities and backgrounds and you are sure to find a perfect match for you. When we interview our patients to ask them to review their personal provider, they all say essentially the same thing: “My doctor is the greatest!” or, “I love ALL of the practitioners here at Chapel Hill OB/GYN!” The greatest reward of our profession is a healthy and completely satisfied patient.
